As we conclude the 2025–2026 school year, I want to take a moment to share one final message as your Superintendent.

Serving the students, families, staff, and community of the Escondido Union School District has been one of the greatest honors of my life. As I prepare to retire on June 30, I find myself reflecting with immense gratitude on the journey we have shared together over the past twelve years.

Throughout this time, I have witnessed firsthand the extraordinary spirit of the EUSD community. Together, we have celebrated successes, navigated challenges, embraced change, and remained steadfast in our commitment to providing the very best for our students. EUSD is a special place because of its people—our dedicated staff, supportive families, valued community partners, and, most importantly, our incredible students.

As this school year comes to a close, I encourage you to enjoy the renewal and rejuvenation that summer brings. It is a time to rest, reconnect with loved ones, celebrate accomplishments, and look forward to new opportunities. We are also excited for the many summer learning and enrichment opportunities available to students throughout the coming months.

To our staff, thank you for your tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to children. To our families, thank you for your trust, partnership, and support throughout the years. Your collaboration has been essential to the success of our district and the growth of our students.

While this is my final message to you as Superintendent, my pride in EUSD and all we have accomplished together remains as strong as ever. I leave with great confidence in the future of this district and deep appreciation for the relationships, memories, and shared purpose that have made these past twelve years so meaningful.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this remarkable community. EUSD will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to cheer on the success of our students, staff, and families for years to come.

On behalf of all of us at EUSD, we wish you and your family a safe, restful, and memorable summer. We look forward to welcoming students back in August as EUSD continues its important work under Andy McGuire’s leadership.

With sincere gratitude and best wishes,

Superintendent of Schools

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.

Last Day:

The last day of school for students is Wednesday, June 10. It is a minimum day for students. Please review the EUSD bell schedule for your child’s school. School offices will be closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday on June 19 and will be closed to the public beginning Monday, June 22.  School offices will reopen to the public on August 5th.

Report cards:

Third-trimester report cards will be issued on Wednesday, June 10. Report cards for elementary school students will be distributed at school. Report cards for middle school students will be delivered by mail.

X-Track Soccer Championship:

On Wednesday, May 27th, our middle school students took to the field for the X-Track Championship soccer matches hosted by the Boys and Girls Club. Across all three grade levels, our boys and girls demonstrated incredible talent, collaboration, and drive. The games were fiercely competitive, so close, in fact, that several matches had to be decided by penalty kicks! More importantly, our athletes showcased true sportsmanship, showing immense respect for their opponents both during the intense competition and at the final whistle. Please join us in celebrating our 2026 Soccer Champions:

  • 6th Grade Boys: Mission Middle School

  • 7th Grade Boys: Hidden Valley Middle School

  • 8th Grade Boys: Del Dios Academy

  • 6th Grade Girls: Rincon Middle School

  • 7th Grade Girls: Bear Valley Middle School

  • 8th Grade Girls: Bear Valley Middle School

None of this would be possible without our wonderful partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (Escondido Branch). Together, we are proud to bring these vital extracurricular sports opportunities to our students after school, helping them grow as both athletes and individuals. Thank you to the Boys & Girls Club, our dedicated EUSD school community, our amazing students, and our families for another outstanding season of support. We couldn’t do it without you!
