We look forward to seeing students tomorrow, September 6, following the extended weekend. I’m grateful for the extra day off thanks to Labor Day, and this year it led me to refresh my memory on the significance of this holiday. It’s more than just the symbolic end of summer. Labor Day is traditionally observed on the first Monday in September, and it was established to recognize and honor the contributions of American workers and the labor movement that arose in the late 19th century.

EUSD employees are represented by two outstanding labor organizations, the Escondido Elementary Educators Association and the California School Employees Association. We have numerous opportunities to join them in our district if you are looking for meaningful work in a vibrant, diverse community. We are accepting employment applications for numerous on-campus and district office positions. Employees who work more than five hours a day are eligible for enrollment in EUSD benefits and retirement programs. Find details on all employment opportunities here

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.

TK in EUSD: Enrollment is ongoing for the district’s full-day Transitional Kindergarten program, which is offered at all 17 elementary schools in EUSD. This program is an exciting educational opportunity for children whose birth date is between September 2, 2017, and February 2, 2018. Spaces are available now, with convenient online enrollment through the New Student Registration 2022-2023 portal. In addition, the EUSD Transitional Kindergarten program has space for “TK Youngsters” – children who are 4 years old and whose birth date is between February 3, 2018, and June 2, 2018.

Rooms: For EUSD families who have not yet connected with Rooms, the new district-wide classroom communication platform, we encourage you to contact your school. School office staff members continue to be available to provide assistance with Rooms at back to school nights, as well as by phone or email during the school day. Be sure to check your email – Inbox, Spam, and Trash – for the invitation to set up your Rooms account if you haven't done so already. Log in to Rooms in the EUSD app on your mobile device or at edurooms.com in your computer or mobile browser. Most logon and display issues related to the mobile app can be resolved by closing and reopening the app or reinstalling and updating the app through the app store.
