A teacher working with students in class.

We have continued to monitor the lithium-ion battery fire in close communication with fire officials, and at this time, all school sites will be open tomorrow – Monday, September 9.

As we mentioned last week, this year, all of our school sites will be competing with each other, every month, for overall student engagement and attendance celebrations. Studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between attendance and student achievement! Our goal is to have our student attendance rate reach 95 percent, which means that our students attend 95 percent of the school year. We have been tracking our daily attendance this year, and so far, we are trending a bit above 95 percent! Let’s work together to make attendance a top priority and watch our students soar!  Every Day Counts!

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.

i-Ready assessments: i-Ready diagnostic assessments are underway for all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. i-Ready is an online learning program for reading and math that assists teachers in determining a student’s needs, personalizing student learning, and monitoring student progress throughout the school year. Once students complete the assessments, they receive their individualized learning path that includes a variety of learning activities to practice reading and math skills at their level that they can access on their iPad at school and at home. Students participate in i-Ready diagnostic assessments three times during the school year: August-September, December, and May-June. The latest results for your student will be shared at parent-teacher conferences in October. Please contact your child's teacher if you have questions about their score or learning path. For more information about i-Ready, please visit the i-Ready page on the EUSD website.

Neighborhood Health Dental Clinics: The Escondido Union School District is excited to once again partner with Neighborhood Healthcare to offer the Neighborhood Healthcare Mobile Dental Services Program at all of our school sites during the 2024-2025 school year. The Mobile Dental Team visits our schools on a rotational basis throughout the year, offering a range of services from annual dental screenings and cleanings to x-rays and treatments. An updated parent consent form is required each year for students to participate in the program.  Please see the Mobile Dental Clinic Flyer for more information and a link to the electronic consent form.  Hard copies of the consent form are available in your school’s front office.

After school enrichment and intervention offerings: Get ready for an exciting lineup of after-school fun! Our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program offers a fantastic variety of enrichment and intervention classes at all EUSD schools. These classes are led by our amazing EUSD teachers, staff, and local vendors, bringing the best experiences right to our students. Keep an eye out for the Student Interest Forms from your school, where families can sign up for the classes that catch their eye. The Fall Session kicks off on September 16th and runs through November 20th—don’t miss out on the fun!

Breakfast and Lunch Menus:  All EUSD students have access to no-cost breakfast and lunch.  Families can view our new online menus.  Select your school and menu to see what is being served every day.
