PROJECT SPECIALIST III: ATTENDANCE & BEHAVIOR SUPPORT

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the overall direction of the Director of Integrated Student Supports the Attendance and Behavior Support Project Specialist III is responsible for the managing district-wide, multi-tiered attendance intervention support services for students, families and the district’s 24 school sites, facilitating positive behavioral interventions and supports, and supervising general education behavior management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the district’s School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Chair. In this role, facilitate District Attendance Review Team meetings, as needed, co-facilitate or facilitate site School Attendance Review Team (SART) Plan meetings.

  • Review and update all policies and procedures related to child welfare and attendance.

  • Provide Tier III Intervention and consultation including participating in consultation with Special Education Program Staff, family outreach in collaboration with Special Education Program Staff, attend and participate in IEP meetings for students receiving Special Education services that are facing challenges and/or barriers to school attendance.

  • Develop, implement, manage, and support a district-wide system for providing student chronic absenteeism data, ADA data, and SART Plan attendance intervention data on a monthly basis (every 20 school days) to site Pupil Re-engagement (PR) teams, for data-driven decision-making on their site multi-tiered attendance interventions.

  • Provide oversite, training and support to school sites’ Pupil Re-engagement (PR) Teams, school administrators and support staff on attendance policies and practices and their roles and responsibilities in multi-tiered attendance intervention practices.

  • Supervise, train and evaluate the District Pupil Re-engagement family liaison and counselor.

  • Ensure that new staff and administrators are aware of our PBIS continuum of supports and the appropriate slide decks and materials are updated every year.

  • Ensure that every site has a working PBIS booster to be administrated in August during the kickoff to meet our EEEA contractual obligations and each site clarifies expectations for teaching the first 20 days, reward recognition, etc.

  • Provide in person training to PBIS teams on the 13 critical elements of PBIS.

  • Facilitate and coach administrators on their implementation of PBIS through team meetings and PBIS team meeting prep (agenda setting, action planning, etc.)

  • Provide each site their discipline data at least three times per year, or monthly upon request.

  • Site-based collaboration with site administrators, school social workers, behavior specialist and teachers to modify behavior summary forms.

  • Coordinate and monitor Behavior Specialist caseloads, vet referrals through site administrator and school social workers.

  • Plan and provide ongoing professional development for the district behavior team including Tier I universal best practice, reviewing district-wide PBIS data and consultation on cases.

  • Evaluate Behavior Specialists and Behavior Technicians.

  • Create and administer Bullying Prevention training support for our sites PBIS teams, and monitor our EUSD bullying reporting forms

  • Provide CSAT site teams with their referral data at least three times per year.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF

Current local, state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures including special education; Student support programs, evidenced based interventions and community and school- based prevention services; State, Federal and local community.

ABILITY TO

Effectively implement district initiatives; provides specialized resource support and coordination of a comprehensive attendance intervention program; communicate effectively in oral and written form; understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls; establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships; possesses exemplary presentation skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions requires the following physical demands: hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; have a means of transportation to conduct work; seeing to conduct inspections of data; and occasional lifting of boxes and equipment and bending or reaching for files and equipment. Weight of materials will vary, but generally less than fifty (50) pounds. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 25% walking and 35% standing. May be required to correctly transfer or restrain a child physically if needed. Will work with students who have significant academic and social/emotional needs. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.

LICENSES/ CREDENTIALS/ EXPERIENCE

Possession of a valid Pupil Service Credential in School Social Work and Child Welfare and Attendance desired.

Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential required.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination and fingerprint clearance following an offer of employment.

Five or more years of experience in education.
