JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the direction and assistance of the Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services to plan, organize, coordinate and implement the operations and activities of the Induction program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:
Plan, organize, coordinate and implement the operations, activities, and support functions of the New EUSD Teacher support (NETs) induction program. Assure related activities comply with standards, preconditions, requirements, laws, regulations, and procedures established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
Work with Human Resources to determine qualified induction candidates and coordinate mentor support for each teacher candidate according to credentials held, grade level and/or subject area, as appropriate to the participant’s employment.
Monitor induction teacher candidate induction progress and as the EUSD designee, clear credentials of teacher candidates who have met all induction program requirements.
Provide and coordinate staff development to faculty as determined by the program, district, and individual teacher needs.
Serve as a liaison and coordinate the induction program, services and communications between administrators, personnel, and school districts, outside organizations, local and state agencies.
Collaborate with the Special Education department to coordinate intern support.
Collect and analyze data in order to monitor and evaluate instructional programs and services for education effectiveness. Submit reports to the commission on teacher credentialing regarding program strengths and rationale for program changes.
Respond to all requests from the Commission for data including, but not limited to, program enrollments, program completers, and examination results within the time limits specified by the Commission.
Monitor and comply with the CCTC accreditation cycle schedule and activities.
Support induction teachers and comply with program standards and preconditions regarding mentoring.
Monitor the budget to ensure adequate resources for program implementation and improvement.
Determine program highlights and information needed to inform and lead the Induction advisory group.
Work with regional team to share resources and determine program improvement strategies.
Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; attend and participate in various conferences, workshops, councils, committees and in-services.
Create agenda and lead bi-monthly leadership meetings with NETs Induction Leadership Team.
Supervise and support teachers on special assignment/mentors who are working with NETs induction teacher candidates.
Ensure TOSAs receive individualized mentoring and support according to program standards and preconditions.
Work with all teachers on special assignments to coordinate support for individualized and program needs.
Work with the credential technician to provide consultation and technical assistance to teachers to meet the requirements to recommend a clear credential to the CCTC.
Attend new hire orientations (determined by human resources) and provide required documents to teacher candidates.
Coordinate the new certificated employee welcome event.
Maintain current knowledge of adult learning theory, educational methods, practices and standards along with district initiatives.
Collaborate with Universities to ensure induction program supports and enhances the preliminary teaching experience of candidates to the EUSD Induction program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Federal and State laws and regulations surrounding the provision of education services and district policies and procedures; computer skills and tools to streamline and maintain accurate records to submit data reports to district, county and state, current knowledge and technology skills to support teacher and student use of technology; educational programs, services, standards, requirements and procedures related to the induction program; practices, procedures and techniques involved in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the induction program; principles and practices of supervision and training; induction program standards and preconditions; requirements and procedures along with the technical background to recommend a candidate for a clear credential; observational strategies using strengths based feedback teacher coaching, andragogy and adult learning theory; budget preparation and allocation of resources; curriculum standards and district adoption implementation Special Education practices, procedures and regulations related to induction; maintenance of program accreditation; credentialing requirements, timelines and procedures for submitting clear credential recommendations.
ABILITY TO
Organize, plan, coordinate, and implement operations, activities, educational services and support functions of the induction program; collaborate and communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders; mentor, peer coach and conduct professional development; ability to maintain, analyze and synthesize data; keep records for program evaluation; follow applicable state and federal timelines; understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions requires the following physical demands: hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; have a means of transportation to conduct work; seeing to conduct inspections of data; and occasional lifting of boxes and equipment and bending or reaching for files and equipment. Weight of materials will vary, but generally less than fifty pounds. Generally, the job requires 35% sitting, 30% walking and 35% standing. May be required to correctly transfer or restrain a child physically if needed. May work with students who have significant academic and social/emotional needs. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
LICENSES/ CREDENTIALS/ EXPERIENCE
Valid Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Eligibility for an Administrative Services Credential
Minimum of five years of experience in education.
Must pass pre-employment physical examination and fingerprint clearance following an offer of employment.
EDUCATION
Master’s degree desired.
SALARY
Placement on the Certificated Management Salary Schedule.
