Here are 5 Things You Can Do to Make the Most of Your Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conference provides an opportunity for parents to share information, ask questions, learn about their child’s school performance, and develop goals and action plans with their child’s teacher. To prepare for these important meetings, parents may consider the following:

  1. Talk with your child about what they are learning in school, what they most enjoy or find easy, and what they find challenging.

  2. Be prepared to share information you think your child’s teacher needs to know as they work with your child this year.

  3. Write down any questions you may have for the teacher in advance. Identify the most important questions and ask these first.

  4. Remember – a regular parent-teacher conference is only 15-20 minutes. If you feel like you need additional time, let your child’s teacher know in advance.

  5. Be ready to be an active participant in the conference. As a partner in your child’s education, you may be asked to help set goals and be a part of an action plan written to support your child’s success.
