Mission Middle School

Student Supports Schedule

2015-2016

Students of all grade levels have opportunities to participate in a range of supports before school, at lunch, and after school. Participating in a support is a great way to make friends and grow as a person.

MONDAYS

Peer Helpers

  • per. 1-8, counseling

Talking = Resolving picture

Description: Peer Helpers are a group of students who are leaders on campus to help create and facilitate activities that build awareness on campus to ensure students are feeling safe and supported. Some of the activities that they organize are Stand Up & Stand Out to Bullying, Know The Signs/Positive Self Image, Season For Non-Violence, Red Ribbon Week, and Kindness Week. They are also involved with managing the Student Resource Office, giving student tours & are trained to help facilitate restorative mediations.

Student Testimonial: We do a lot of projects. We get involved around the school. We also do the activities at lunch to meet new people, so they don't feel left out, especially if they are new here. If they need anything, any help, they can ask us, if the counselors can't talk to them." Jasmine Arredondo (8th). "Peer Helpers stand for helping each other & helping the community. The best thing about being a peer helper is that we get to interact with the thousands of students that go to school every day. Our goal is to help everybody in need, so they can have a better way of looking at school and life."
