The EUSD Family

When we designed our new website, we asked a variety of parents, teachers, and staff to describe their emotions and perceptions about EUSD. The overwhelming majority cited words like caring, welcoming, committed, collaborative, community, and family to describe EUSD — and we couldn’t be happier to hear it.

Plain and simple, EUSD is more than just a school district. In many ways, it’s a family — a committed network of people and organizations that care deeply about Escondido’s youth. Here are just a few of the “family members” that work hard for our kids each and every day:

Teachers

It may sound cliché, but our teachers are truly amazing. Nearly 1,100 of them come to work every day, committed to making a difference in the lives of our kids. When new teachers are first hired, we help them to become productive members of the EUSD family through our Beginning Teacher Induction Program, a required professional development opportunity that has been recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing as an outstanding program.

But the professional development doesn’t stop there. We’ve continued to make significant investments in your child’s education by providing quality professional development opportunities for all EUSD teachers, including (but not limited to) Quality Teaching for English Learners (QTEL), and the Escondido STEM Initiative.

Support Staff

They often go unseen in behind the scenes roles, but make no mistake: The nearly 800 members of EUSD’s support staff are heroes who work unbelievably hard for our kids. From office managers to custodians, administrative assistants to nutrition professionals, our staff is here to keep our school campuses running smoothly for you and your child.

Administration

Led by Superintendent Dr. Luis Ibarra, our assistant superintendents, department directors, and school principals work tirelessly to foster a collaborative sense of purpose that reflects everyone’s shared commitment to student learning and success.

Parent Groups

Our parents are active and dedicated — and when you enroll your child here, you’ll have the opportunity to join them and contribute to the growth of our EUSD family. Opportunities for parent involvement include (but are not limited to): School Site Council, District Advisory Council, English Learner Advisory Council, PTO/PTA, and the Escondido Education Foundation.

Foundation & Community Partners

EUSD is fortunate to have a longstanding relationship with the Escondido Education Foundation, a dedicated 501(c)3 philanthropic foundation run by volunteers who work tirelessly for the students and teachers of EUSD. Each year, their fundraising makes the Dr. Mike Caston Innovation Awards possible, which provide individual teacher grants of $500, grade level grants of $2,500, and school grants up to $5,000 to deserving programs at EUSD.

But the partnerships don’t stop there. We have relationships with numerous Escondido-area organizations and non-profits, including: Escondido Education COMPACT, Escondido Police Department, County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency, Local Rotary, Local Kiwanis, Encuentros Leadership, Friends of Daley Ranch, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, Assistance League, City of Escondido, Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County, Mental Health Systems, Elizabeth Hospice, Palomar Health, Neighborhood Healthcare, Vista Hill Foundation, Palomar Family Counseling Services, and Feeding America — and that’s only a partial list.

Escondido Union High School District (EUHSD)

Through ongoing collaboration with EUHSD, we ensure coordination of services and programs to make sure your child’s transition from EUSD to high school is as smooth as possible.

Bottom line: As you can see, the EUSD family is strong. If you and your child are not already members of our family, we hope you will consider joining us!
